Universities are large and complex, which makes it difficult to communicate in emergencies or other critical incidents.
Failure to effectively communicate in critical times can compromise safety and trust, and disrupt the activity of the University. To unify the University’s approach to critical incident management, the UNE Safe App for smartphones has been introduced.
The UNE Safe App is now live, and available through the iOS or Android app stores or download it via UNELife
The app has a range of important features:
- Security push notifications informing users on the UNE campus of a critical incident in real time;
- Emergency Contacts;
- Friend Walk – allows you to location share with a friend so they can monitor your whereabouts;
- Report a tip, suspicious package/behaviour etc to Safety, Security & Information via email, phone or SMS;
- UNE Campus Map;
- Emergency Response Plans with links to Emergency Service Organisations;
- Support resources – direct contact to counselling, student grievance unit, Employee Assistance Program and other Government and NGO sites for support.
Please download and test the app. Feedback can be provided through the app’s Preferences.
