Steven Riddell will offer training on how you can evaluate your research quality and performance using Scopus and SciVal tomorrow.
Sessions:
- 10:30am – 12pm: This session will showcase how the tool SciVal can assist you with evaluating research and the quality of research performance. The SciVal tool allows you to investigate data from 8,500 institutions globally and all academics who have an article published and indexed in Scopus. The tool can be extremely useful to develop and maintain an Scopus Author Profile (Scopus ID) and how in conjunction with Scopus can be used for grant applications and academic promotion activities.
- 12-1pm: Break
- 1 – 2:30pm: Introducing more SciVal’s functionality including reporting, overview and benchmarking.
- 2:30 – 3:30pm: Introducing journal metrics. This session will:
- show how journal metrics are calculated and how, by understanding these basic principles, you can make better choices on where to publish.
- assist you in understanding how to evaluate articles and journals that are contextually comparable as well as contrast articles and journals based on volume output overall or within subject areas.
- include a live demo of journal assessment in Scopus.
The workshop will be held tomorrow 24 May in the FJH Letters Room, level 2, Dixson Library and tea and coffee will be provided.
