UNE Deputy Chancellor Jan McClelland AM was the speaker at a NEEW breakfast recently. She shared life-defining moments from her long and diverse career with the audience and encouraged women to err on the side of risk, to grab opportunities and to challenge the status quo.
Jan – an experienced chief executive, management consultant, chairman and non-executive director – talked about the key drivers that influenced her choice, most notably when she left government to start her own business. The experience left a lasting impact on Jan and highlighted to her the importance of resilience and belief in herself and her ability to succeed in business.
Jan is the former Director General of the NSW Department of Education and Training as well as Managing Director of the NSW TAFE Commission. She now manages her own consulting firm. and is Deputy Chancellor of UNE.
