Law mentoring

The UNE School of Law, together with the Office of Advancement, has launched its inaugural 2017 School of Law Alumni and Industry Partner Mentoring Program. So far, 48 alumni and industry partners have registered as mentors and the program will run until the end of Trimester 2 (Monday, 9 October).

The program provides later year law students the opportunity to network with legal, business and other professionals and gain valuable practical advice from alumni and industry professionals as they start their careers. The program uses Xinspire mentoring software.

Both mentors and mentees receive many benefits from the mentoring relationship, with the value going beyond the lifetime of the program. These include:

  • Developing leadership and/or mentoring capabilities
  • Providing encouragement, support and help to others to discover and develop their talents and skills
  • Acting as a positive role model to help build the next generation for your profession
  • Gain a new or different perspective on study and career options and the opportunity to discuss your aspirations
  • Networking and expanding your contacts
  • Being challenged, using your talents and sharing expertise
  • Receive encouragement and support and build self-confidence
  • Learning new skills that extend your knowledge and ability

If you know of any School of Law alumni, industry professionals and/or later year law students who may like to participate in the program, please ask them to register at https://mentoring.une.edu.au/programs/law/register. Eligibility criteria applies.
