Last Friday 26 students from Chubu University (CU), Japan started a one-month program here in Armidale. The CU students will stay with host families for four weeks, take English lessons with other international students at UNE, exchange culture at local schools, and travel around the Armidale city as well as to the coast and other places of interest.

Students are really excited about being absorbed in “Aussie” culture and both the English Language Centre and the Chubu University chaperone, Mr Yoshitaka Kato, hope that the relationship between UNE and CU will last a long time.

This is the sixth year of cooperation between the two universities. The program was renewed from the original semester program held in conjunction with Linguistics more than 12 years ago.
