Provide First Aid For Life teaches you the skills and knowledge to provide a First Aid response to a casualty in a range of situations including community and workplace settings.
This course is valid for three years but the CPR component is only valid for one year. It is the minimum requirement for anyone holding the position of UNE First Aid Officer and is highly recommended for the following staff and students:
- Staff involved with supervision of students, especially on field trips
- Post graduate students carrying out fieldwork
- Medical and nursing students for whom a current first aid certificate is compulsory prior to attending practical placements.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE COURSE:
First Aid Workbooks need to be collected from the OD office located within HR Services, top floor, TC Lamble Building and exercises completed plus exam, PRIOR to attending the course. Please allow enough time to collect the workbook and complete these prerequisite tasks.
Every course participant must obtain a USI number prior to attending the course by visiting www.usi.gov.au and clicking on the box “CREATE A USI” then follow the prompts. From January 1st, 2015 all people who undertake any VET training ( Vocational Education and Training), will require a UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTITY number (USI). Any training undertaken must be accompanied by this USI number before the course is undertaken. You will only be required to do this once. Please keep a record of this number as you will be required to give this number every time you complete any nationally recognized training.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please bring current id with you (passport, driver’s license) on the day.
Wear suitable attire as CPR must be completed on the floor on adult mannequins for a minimum of 2 minutes.
Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided by OD but you will need to bring your own lunch. The lunch break will be approximately 30 minutes.
Please remember to bring in your completed First Aid Workbook and your USI number.
