At the Australia Alumni Awards in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 8 November 2914, Distinguished UNE alumnus, Dr Nguyen Xuan Trach was recognised for his contributions to education in Vietnam. In the role as Vice President for International , Quality Assurance, and PhD training at
Vietnam National University of Agriculture, he has overseen many collaborate projects between VNUA and international partners which enhance the university’s teaching and research as well as national development, particularly in the agricultural sector. His extensive work experience to date has led him to his current position of executive responsibility at the VNUA where he is able to influence the education of both Vietnamese nationals as well as international students, particularly as a driver for animal welfare teaching in Vietnam.
The awards were organised by the Vietnam Graduates of Australia Club (VGAC) to recognise outstanding alumni, who have studied at Australian institutions, whose significant achievements have contributed to Vietnam. The awards not only promote talent, dedication, creativity and hard work, but also reinforce exchange and cooperation in various aspects of society.
Another alumni event was held on 11 November in Melbourne, where the Vice-Chancellor met with alumni and current students at the historic Melbourne Town Hall. She presented an Alumni Achievement Award to Gina Milgate and spoke to attendees about the current state of affairs in the tertiary sector and how this might possibly affect UNE. Her presentation was followed by questions and alumni were keen to know what role they could take in assisting the University in the current climate.
