The University of New England’s Growing Regional & Agricultural Students in Science (UNE GRASS) program is running an event to train teachers about the smart science and research developments that support primary industries.
The Teacher Professional Development event runs over two days, with a busy program for nearly fifty teachers from right around New South Wales and Queensland.
Sessions included in the program are designed to support the content from the secondary science syllabus and present the smart rural and environmental science offering global solutions. Supporting resource material is provided to teachers including information to be included in their classroom teaching.
A number of distinguished guests will be attending the event, including internationally recognised scientists who will present on topical and cutting-edge science.
As part of the event a dinner will be held, including Gordon Brownhill from AMPS Agribusiness and Research as keynote speaker. Amongst other objectives, AMPS Agribusiness and Research is committed to providing agricultural opportunities for future generations.
The Teacher Professional Development follows two other successful UNE GRASS events, namely the Science Investigation Awards and the UNE GRASS Industry Placement Scholarship Camp which recognise and encourage young people in the sciences.
The event will take place on November 11-12 at UNE. More details of the event, including a full program can be found at the UNE GRASS website.
