Over 120 golfers took to the greens at the Armidale Golf Club on Friday 17th October,  for UNE’s annual Golf Day.

The day was a great success thanks to the generous support of sponsors, local businesses, the Armidale Golf Club and the enthusiasm of all the players.

This year’s top honours, the Vice Chancellors Cup went to the team from SJF Kitchens and runners up were the Roberts & Morrow team, so well done to those teams, great effort!

Taking out the ‘Nearest to the Pin’ on a few holes were Andrew Williams, Phil Williams and Ashley Clee; ‘The longest Drive’ went to Mitch Hiscox and the ‘Straightest Drive’ was hit by Matt Schaefer.

The Golf Day supports a great cause, raising money for the UNE Sports Scholarship Program for elite athletes, and there to thank those supporting the golf day were UNE students and Sporting Scholarship holders, Ed Brettnall, golf scholarship and Holly Harris, mountain biking scholarship.

These elite athletes talked about how important it is to have the support of the university in assisting them to remain competitive in their sport whilst studying.
