Following the launch of myLearn as UNE’s next-generation online learning ecosystem last year, the UNE community has been keenly awaiting the announcement of the platform that sits at the heart of myLearn. We are now able to share this outcome, and earlier this week it was announced that UNE will partner with OpenLMS to implement Moodle 4.1 as the foundation for myLearn from T3 this year.
This outcome is the result of an extensive, consultative tender process, and we are confident that it gives us the best of both worlds – change and renewal to meet UNE’s new needs and take us into the future, while maximising the value of our existing capability and expertise and minimising workload burden.
Here’s what you can look forward to experiencing in myLearn:
- A fresh interface with exciting new features and integrations
- A significantly improved user experience, through 4.1’s new architecture, UNE’s new configuration and theme, and an uplifted unit interface via Project Uplift
- A frictionless transition path – no large-scale migration or need to configure and learn an entirely new system
- Significant improvements in the support and hosting, with a new service model in place with OpenLMS
- Flexibility that supports innovation and improvement into the future – OpenLMS supports customisation and new feature development
From here we will fast track the development of the system configuration and theme for myLearn, and continue to progress Project Uplift which is already in full swing. We’ll also be planning a range of events and opportunities for the UNE community to get involved with myLearn’s design and implementation and help us shape the next generation of online learning at UNE. Keep your eye out for more information on these in the near future. For now, you can see some early concept art for myLearn on the Project Uplift website:
