UNE has recently released the Digital Dexterity program – a suite of modules to designed to develop students’ digital skills. The program was developed as a cross-team collaboration between the Library and Digital Education, with Twyla Ferguson-Edwards from the Learning Design Team joining a team of Library staff to design and deliver the interactive online modules.
What is Digital Dexterity?
Digital Dexterity goes beyond digital literacy to equip students with key skills for thriving in a digital world. CAUL (Council of Australian University Librarians) has developed a framework that captures the dimensions of digital dexterity, and describes it thus:
Digital Dexterity is important for success in education, in the workforce and in life. It includes digital and information literacy, but also encompasses a range of capabilities including ICT proficiency, digital learning and creation, digital collaboration, media and data literacy, and digital identity. Universities and their libraries are ideally placed to equip Australians and New Zealanders with the skills and higher-order knowledge required to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

The program is now available to all students via the Digital Dexterity Moodle site.
