We are asked to perform in front of a webcam for Zoom meetings and presentation recordings.

This video walks through the four things to consider when recording or zooming you and your presentation:

  1. Clear sound is achieved by maximising your voice while minimising noise. If using an internal computer mic be close to it, or better still acquiring a headset will get a better result.
  2. You will need to be well lit. Generally having more lights on is best, people watching your video want to see you.
  3. Placing your face at the top of the screen so people can see more of you and less of the room while looking at the webcam to engage audience.
  4. If you use a presentation — the biggest mistake is adding too much content on one slide, especially text.

Choose a screen recording tool that suits your needs. Some University of New England (UNE) options include EchoVideo, Zoom, for power users or perfectionists Camtasia (limited UNE licences — need to request),  or even built-in options like QuickTime Player on Mac or Xbox Game Bar on Windows 10 and later.
