For trimester 2 (and in early preparation for the launch of myLearn for trimester 3 in October) you will see changes to the unit tile images.
Background:
The current way tiles are displayed was a custom development for UNE some years back. We are keen to preserve the tiles for myLearn but will need to switch to another, more standard way of managing and displaying tiles to do so. This change is happening on Wednesday, 21st June for all teaching sites that use the “Tiles” format.
For the majority of units, you will notice a slight difference in the look and behaviour of the tiles, and some changes to the options for editing the tiles.
Editing: Tile selection / management
All T2 units will have a relevant set up tiles set up already, you do not need to do anything to change or update your units. However, if you wish to update any tiles, you can do so. With “editing on” tiles can be changed by clicking on the default tile and selecting / uploading either an image, or one of the available icons. Large images will automatically be resized on upload.
New feature: Progress indicator
The new tile format support progress indicators on each tile that displays as “X out of Y”, with Y being the number of activities set to count towards progress and X the number of those completed. This will display where activity completion is enabled in a unit (but can be disabled for an individual unit if not required from Site Settings -> Site Format -> Progress on each tile)
Change: Default Tiles
For T3 we will lose the ability to set default tiles sets per school / discipline. Any units that already have a custom tile set (including the numbers), will retain their custom tiles. This includes all T2 units that are now live to students. Any tiles in brand new units that are created will default to a standard “pie chart” icon and should be updated to a curated tile set as part of the unit setup.
Change: “View All”
Unfortunately, we will lose the “View All” option in the migration. Students will be able to navigate using the left hand navigation menu, and unit coordinators will be able to see all their topics on a single page with “editing on”.
New Feature: Greyed out hidden topics
Any topics hidden from students now appear greyed out.
