Some of the hub are heading to Narrabri next week, so we finally decided to test our newly modified coring tubes. Yui had also never used our coring rig before so we popped down to Trevenna to see how the new rig and staff would go.

It’s harder than it looks!

The new tubes and inserts worked well together in the rather wet vertosol, so a big thanks to Graham in the engineering workshop for his time and beautiful craftsmanship. Whilst our efforts did not hold hte attention of our audience of a dozen sheep for too long it did turn out that Yui’s a dab hand on the core extractor and is now looking forward to pulling 32 of them next week in Narrabri. In the meantime, stay away from Trevenna creek in your ute. It’s still pretty boggy down there.
