F.M.S. wish to advise that the male and female toilets on the ground floor of the ITD Building will be closed for retiling.

Location: ITD Building Ground Floor Male & Female Toilets

Reason:  Male and female toilets on the ground floor of ITD Building will be closed for retiling. Alternative toilets can be found on the second floor of the ITD Building.

ITD is undertaking a major project to replace the entire UNE Voice and Data network. This will involve the replacement of the entire network and add full wireless capability over the campus and colleges.

 

To date the project has completed the design, procurement, off site run up phases and core network switches have been installed in their final locations here on campus.

 

We now need to transfer central data centre equipment from our current network to the new network infrastructure.

 

This transfer will unfortunately require a number of service outages and cause some minor inconvenience to staff and students using computers connected to the network. It is our intention that this will be undertaken progressively and during low usage periods in order to limit impact.

 

The first of these outages will occur tomorrow morning (Friday January 16, 2009) between the hours of 05:00 and 08:00 and some services may be disrupted during this period.

 

Information about the project will be posted to the Net-Ops mailing list and on the ITD service announcements web page. When necessary ITD will also email support staff in each area to advise of upcoming changes, what impact they can expect and what actions, if any, they will need to perform.

This Thursday, 15th January 2009, ITD will be performing an upgrade on the Virtual Learning Environment between 8:00am and 9:00am. As a result of this the Virtual Learning Environment (Blackboard, Sakai, TurnItIn, ESubmission and TLCAdmin) will be unavailable during this period. We expect that the upgrade will take less that the full allotted time, however are reserving the full hour to cover any contingencies.

 

To reiterate, the Virtual Learning Environment(Blackboard, Sakai, TurnItIn, ESubmission and TLCAdmin) will be unavailable for :-

 

Time – 8:00am and 9:00am

Date – Thursday, 15th January 2009

The upgrade to UNE’s web content management system is going ahead this coming Thursday morning (15 January 2009). The CMS will be unavailable from 0900 to 1300 for the upgrade process itself. We then will be adding administrators to each branch, a process which could take the rest of the afternoon. Please be prepared for the CMS to be unavailable for the whole of Thursday and some of Friday.

This will NOT affect the current UNE webpages, only the ability to UPDATE any webpages during the upgrade.

Dear Staff and Students,

In accordance with the ITD’s scheduled maintenance window plan, the next maintenance event will occur on Saturday 10th January 2009.

ITD will be performing maintenance work between 6:00am and 12 midday. and As a result of this, network access, including internet access and the University online services will experience disruptions throughout the duration of the maintenance window.

This event is one of a regular schedule of maintenance windows during which essential upgrades and maintenance improvements will be applied to University systems.

Please check the ITD Service Announcements web page regularly for information relating to ITD services interruptions and planned events.

To reiterate, for this scheduled maintenance window, the following systems will be impacted :–

- Disruptions throughout the maintenance window for the majority of University online services including Internet access, email and online teaching systems and corporate UNE systems.
