Dear Colleagues,
I hope you had a restful break.
I am writing this email to inform you of activities that the academic Development division is planning for this year. 2024 will be focused on two main activities:
Advance HE Fellowship
Advance HE Fellowship: Advance HE is a leading organisation in quality in HE. accredit continuous professional development (CPD) programmes for teaching and learning which are delivered by higher education providers around the world. Accreditation is the process we use to confirm that these opportunities for professional development offered by institutions are aligned with the Professional Standards Framework (PSF).
CPD programmes can be accredited against one or more of the four ‘descriptors’ of the PSF. This means that successful participants will be eligible for one of the four categories of fellowship:
Fellowships are embedded in the UK and have been adopted by increasing numbers of higher education institutions globally, from the Americas to Australasia. Most universities have their own programs to support the staff to achieve fellowships. Staff can apply for any of the above fellowships as per their experience. If you are unsure which category to apply to, here is the tool which help you make the decision: Fellowship category tool
In the academic webinar series from March, we will be focusing on the Advance HE fellowships and how to progress your application. The guest speakers have been scheduled to run intensive workshops to introduce interested staff members to UK PSF and the application process. So stay tuned. The communication will be out soon.
Formalising Peer Review of Teaching
The academic development division will be working towards finalising the Peer Review of Teaching and putting in place a university-wide formalised process for peer review of teaching. More on this initiative will be communicated soon.
Modular PD
The Academic Development division is also planning to develop several bite-size PD modules to help enhance teaching and learning at large. One such module is already in place and can be accessed from this link: Constructive alignment. You can self-enrol into the module and you will have 60 days to complete the module. On successful completion of the Module, you will earn a badge. A few other modules are under development. The new modules will be announced as they are ready.
Academic Development Webinar Series
The Academic Development Webinar Series (ADWS) run every fortnight on Monday at 12pm for an hour. This year, we have scheduled many very interesting webinars from experts in the field. Stay tuned to the ADWS email and keep checking the Academic Development website for updates.
We look forward to your participation.
