Team IFAMA

UNE Business School and the School of Environmental and Rural Science recently celebrated the victory for our UNE student team at IFAMA 2017 – you can read more about that via “World Champions – University of New England Business School students win International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) Student Case Competition“.

UNE Chancellor James Harris opened the event, congratulating not only the hard word of our UNE students, but also their support team who worked tirelessly to prepare them for the event: Dr Stuart Mounter, Ms Sally Strelitz, Professor Derek Baker, Mr Frank Leayr and Ms Lyn Gollan all steered our teams to their success in Florida in June this year.

In the presence of the Chancellor as well as Deputy Chancellor Jan McClelland, senior members of academic staff across UNE Business School, School of Environmental and Rural Science and School of Law, UNE students and our visiting group from University of Wyoming, those attending the event heard from the team about the IFAMA experience.

Professor Derek Baker who spoke on the history and context of the IFAMA Student Case Competition, as well as the value of the field trip that students took part in as a key aspect of the visit to the USA. Dr Stuart Mounter shared detail on the training process for the student teams, enlightening the crowd on aspects of the competition and the international agribusiness context.

The crowd heard from our IFAMA teams about their experiences leading up to the event, and in Miami.

The students shared some amazing personal reflections on the full experience – from their applications to join the team, the hours of training and rehearsal time, the professional development and coaching from industry experts, their time with University of Wyoming, and the competition itself.

It was a wonderful event and a great chance to celebrate and recognise the achievements of such a talented group of students with their powerful supporting team – all attendees had an excellent time!
