We know that many of you may have been impacted by Saturday’s snowstorm in Armidale, as well as flooding and other extreme weather events along the east coast. Thank you for your patience as UNE teams work hard to clear debris and assess the campus to ensure everyone’s safety.
For the rest of this week (through to Sunday 10 August 2025), all scheduled on-campus teaching and intensive schools will proceed as timetabled – details of the access arrangements are included below.
Apart from those teaching activities, access to the Armidale-campus will remain restricted until Monday 11 August 2025.
Please keep an eye on Information for Disaster Affected Students webpage for updates.
Students affected by the extreme weather
We understand that some students were scheduled to attend intensives on the Armidale campus this week and have either been delayed or continue to be unable to travel either due to Armidale access, or events local to you. Please be assured that the University is here to work with you regarding options for your studies to ensure that you are not negatively impacted by circumstances outside of your control.
Please continue to follow local guidance regarding travel. Your safety and wellbeing are our top priority.
You can find the latest information regarding campus access, service availability, support and academic options on our Disaster Affected Students webpage: https://www.une.edu.au/current-students/my-course/managing-my-course/disaster-affected-students. We will continue to update this page as new information and options become available through the week. Please be aware that many staff have also been impacted by the extreme weather and as such, some responses may be delayed. Students who are unable to attend mandatory intensive schools may apply for a ‘deferred intensive school’ via the Special Assessment application process. Details regarding how to apply are available on the Information for Disaster Affected Students webpage. If approved, the student will be invited to attend the intensive in the next teaching period that unit is offered.
