The University of New England has significantly expanded its on-campus teaching for Trimester 2, following further relaxation of NSW Government public health orders.
While online teaching remains core to UNE’s offerings as part of our COVID response, our COVID-19 Safe Plan has enabled us to maximise the number of on-campus sessions while still prioritising the safety of our staff and students.
Students are encouraged to view the changes implemented for T2 On-campus Unit Offerings and Intensive Schools on our COVID Safe Campus page. Unit codes can be used to determine specific delivery modes and face-to-face elements. Students are also encouraged to attend face-to-face classes in person to take full advantage of the on-campus experience and to allow UNE to optimise support.
If you have other specific questions about your studies, the best option is to contact the relevant coordinator for that unit.
The return to face-to-face teaching excludes exams, which continue to be online only. Consideration will be given to alternative modes of assessment on a case-by-case basis as per current examination guidelines.
While it is exciting to have more people returning to campus, it is important that we continue to work together as a community to continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and to follow the COVID-safe guidelines displayed at each location.
Vice Chancellor Professor Brigid Heywood has said “I extend my sincere thanks to everyone for their ongoing resilience as we have worked together to comply with changing Government directives over the past fifteen months. It has not been easy but I am encouraged by the ongoing support of the UNE community”.
UNE Teams are looking forward to working with you as you make plans for Trimester 2 and what follows. Please do not hesitate to reach out via AskUNE or your Unit Coordinator if you need assistance.

So no change to exams then, which is an instance where the physical distance between people can be well controlled. A disappointing announcement, to say the least.
