Highway to Well: Mental Health First Aid Courses: Register Now for 16 November 2018
UNE, in collaboration with Highway to Well and Hunter New England Local Health District, are pleased to again promote the opportunity for students to be trained in Mental Health First Aid for Tertiary Students, with enrolment in the e-learning component of this course currently FREE for students in selected health courses. This is a great opportunity to build skills relevant to both your personal and work life.
Students can register to do the online component via https://mhfa.com.au/courses/public/types/blendedtertiary
This is a blended course that involves a self-paced online or e-component, but also attendance at a 4 hour face-to-face component which is at your own expense. We are fortunate to have the face-to-face training available at the UNE Armidale campus again on Friday 16 November 2018 9am – 1pm, and at a reasonable fee of $50. You will need to complete the on line component prior to attending the 4 hour face-to-face component. Completion of the course can be recognised for the New England Award.
The majority of Australian University students are young people, and at least 1 in 4 of these young people will experience mental ill-health in any one year. When young people are going through a difficult time, it’s often friends who notice first or who they confide in for support. It’s important to have the skills and confidence to help.
For further details on how to register for the 16 November face-to-face component of this course, please contact Sarah Green on 0438 296 015 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students in other parts of Australia can find an approved MHFA instructor for the face-to-face component via the Course Calendar at this link https://mhfa.com.au/courses/public
