SSAF proposed expenditure: feedback welcome; have your say before 9 November
The UNE Vice-Chancellor Professor Annabelle Duncan recently approved proposed expenditure of approximately $3.3 million of student fees collected through the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
The proposed 2019 SSAF Budget expenditure has been prepared in consultation with Student Representatives and subsequently endorsed by the Student Services and Amenities Fee Committee (SSAFC).
The SSAF budget plans for expenditure across 6 key areas (with various individual activities and programs being delivered within these categories) as follows:
$328,080 for Student Representation, Governance and Mandated Support Activities
This includes seed funding for the reestablishment of a Student Association to represent the interests of all students, Orientation and Transition activities for both on and off campus students and coordination of the range of SSAF Projects.
$66,676 for Student Leadership and Engagement
Funds will be used to support activities which enhance opportunities for the development of student leadership including inter-Collegiate academic competitions (Enactus, IFAMA), Conferences (UNE Postgrad Research Conference) and further development of the Student Partnership at UNE Network.
$1,346,472 for Student Support Services
In 2019, the range of support services available to off campus students will be expanded and include access to Studiosity, Careers and Academic Skills Support, additional Library support through extended opening hours and services for students attending Intensive Schools. Academic Integrity support for international students will also be provided. Independent advocacy (through Uni4Me) will continue with increased focus on supporting online learners.
$984,325 for Student Sporting and Recreational Activities
Support will continue for College activities, campus radio TUNE! FM, UNE Clubs and Societies, subsidies for food and beverage at on campus outlets including the Bistro, Sport UNE activities (including student subsidy) and free return postage for Library book returns.
$494,600 for Student Welfare Services
The committee recognises the growing need for the provision of wellbeing support and dedicated Counselling support with continue in the residences, additional support will be provided for on-campus student in need and proactive prevention services will be extended to off campus students through additional Counselling services
$48,500 for International Student Support and Engagement
Additional support specifically for UNE’s diverse international cohort will include Armidale International Association, engagement activities and events within the community, support to enhance opportunities to improve learning and outreach activities for large cohorts.
