Course & Unit Catalogue – Tips & Tricks for searching easily; Get enrolled for Tri 3 now

Have you spent far too long trying to find units for trimester 3 by struggling to pore over the entire unit catalogue? Well we have the tip for you!

First of all, when it comes to which units you should be enrolling into, you are best advised to look into your Program of Study. This lists the units that you must/can choose to do as part of your course. You can find your Program of Study through the Course and Unit Catalogue. Make sure that you select the correct year for your course rules (if you started in 2016, click on the year 2016 at the top of the page).

You can then use the Advanced Search tool to look through the Unit Guide as a way of narrowing down units to a particular teaching period. Please note this can only be used when in a specific letter (as in how the Unit Guide is alphabetical).

For example, an education student would frequently enrol in subjects where the unit code begins with an ‘E’. You would therefore navigate to the ‘E’ page and access the Advanced Search tool there. It can be found at the very top of the unit information table (see below).

You can elect a teaching period (for example, trimester 3) as well as input the beginning of a specific unit code (e.g. EDEE, EDUC, EDEC etc.).

This will then display a list of all units with that unit code that are on offer for the trimester 3 teaching period. If you want to look for a different unit code or teaching period, simply change the information you have put into the Advanced Search tool. Remember to hit the ‘Clear’ button when you are done otherwise your next search might be effected by the limitations you have previously applied.
