2017 Frank Archibald memorial lecture: 6 November; featuring Dr Ray Kelly
The Frank Archibald Memorial Lecture is an annual event held in honour of Mr Frank Archibald, a revered Aboriginal community member of the Armidale area. Mr Archibald was renowned for his knowledge and interest in all issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly education. Established in 1986, the lecture is presented by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander speakers who are leading professionals in their fields.
This year’s lecture will be held at the Armidale Bowling Club on 6 November 2017 at 6PM.
This year’s guest speaker: Dr Ray Kelly will speak about ‘Memories, milestones and monuments’
For the past 30 years, Dr Ray Kelly has dedicated his working career to Indigenous community enhancement at regional, state and national levels. He is resolute in his belief that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have an inherent right to maintain, preserve and manage all aspects of our unique cultures. In order to do this effectively we must commit to an ongoing process of engagement, communication and negotiation with our fellow Australians for all aspects of our future planning and development of our country.
