ITD will be performing maintenance on University systems and services this Saturday the 9th of April 2011.

The maintenance will commence from 6am and will complete by 5:00pm and a number of systems and services will be unavailable during this period.

ITD are conscious of the impact on students of the AARNet service outage last weekend  – in response we have minimised our maintenance work to reduce interruption to Teaching and Learning systems- these will be available from 9am.

For Students:
· All Students – Teaching and Learning systems and University websites may be unavailable between 6:00am and 9:00am.  Email will be unavailable from 9:00am until 1:00pm

· Off campus students – there will be a brief internet outage during the morning when we test the new backup link to our AARNet network in Sydney.

· On-campus students – we are performing upgrades across our network.  There may be a brief internet outage during the morning (as above) and services may be intermittently disrupted throughout the day as services are restarted.  There will be a prolonged disruption to network services on the eastern side of campus and the Library during the morning from 6:00am.   You should be able to reconnect immediately following service recommencement.

For Staff:
· There will be a brief internet outage as we test the new network backup link to the AARNet network in Sydney. This should only last a few seconds and if you are unlucky enough to be affected you should be able to reconnect immediately.

· If you are working on-campus on Saturday, there will be  a number of systems which are intermittently unavailable.  There is expected that the network will be unavailable in the TC Lamble building and TLC  from 6:00am for a minimum of 5 hours. You should be able to reconnect immediately following service recommencement.

· Staff email, MFD printing, photocopying and scanning  and other staff services will experience interruptions during the outage as we perform maintenance on our servers.

Please note that the Service Desk will be providing telephone support as usual (9am to 5pm) so if you experience any problems or just want to confirm whether your service is operational please call the Service Desk team on 02 6773 5000.

This event is one of a regular schedule of maintenance windows during which essential upgrades and maintenance improvements are applied to University systems. The schedule of maintenance windows for 2011 is  on the ITD website (http://www.une.edu.au/it-services/policies/ ).  Please check these dates before planning any events that may require I.T. services or support.

Schedule times may vary to cater for important events such as residential schools and notices regarding the schedule of maintenance windows will be posted on the ITD Services Announcements web page before each scheduled window.

Should you require any further information or wish to provide feedback in anyway please contact the Service Desk team on 02 6773 5000 or via servicedesk@une.edu.au.
