IT Support Officers (weekends/evenings/daytime)

 

The IT Directorate (ITD) is looking for Support Officers to offer IT support to students during weekends and evenings, as well as to staff and students during the day.

For evening / weekend shifts, Support Officers will be located in Dixson Library Learning Commons and work shifts (9.00am – 5.00 pm) on Saturdays or Sundays and/or 4.30 – 9.00 pm Monday – Fridays during the academic semester and during residential schools.

For daytime work, Support Officers will be working with the IT Service Desk on a wide range of IT support requests, via phone, email or at user’s desks.

After training, the Support Officer on duty will be able to respond to basic support requests from students and staff, including, but not limited to:

  • Password and account registration queries
  • Moodle queries and problems with assignment submission
  • Queries regarding access to electronic resources (such as MyUNE, electronic library resources and eReserve)
  • Email and internet setup questions.
  • General IT support queries from staff and students.

 

We are currently looking for additional casual staff with demonstrated IT and communication skills. Experience in IT support or other customer service roles is highly desirable.

Payment will be at Student Rate Level 2 (if current UNE students) or HEO 4 / 5 (all other applicants) – depending on skill set / available work.

Requirements:

To be considered for the role, you will need to be available either weekend/evenings or for daytime work during the year and have some or all of the following skills:

  • Experience with using Moodle
  • Experience with other online IT facilities (such as MyUNE, electronic library resources, esubmission etc)
  • Good knowledge of email software and internet browsers
  • Some Desktop support / hardware experience
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Some IT support experience or customer service experience would be desirable
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
