Mac1 will be on campus tomorrow to swap any wall plug adapters affected by Apple’s recent recall.

They will be here on campus:

WEDNESDAY, 17th February 2016 from 11am – 2pm

IT Service Desk Office, Dixson Library Learning Commons

Please check your chargers and, if yours is affected, use the opportunity to exchange the part on campus.

To obtain a new adapter, please take your old adapter to the IT Office where Mac1 staff will replace it with a new part.

The affected Apple adapters were shipped with MacBooks and iPads, and older models of iPhone and iPod, between 2003 and 2015. The affected adapters attach directly to a power brick to connect devices to the wall. New MacBooks also come with an adapter on a long cord, which is not affected by this recall.

The part that is being recalled looks like this:

An affected wall plug adapter has 4 or 5 characters or no characters on the inside slot where it attaches to an Apple power adapter. Redesigned adapters have a 3-letter regional code in the slot (EUR, KOR, AUS, ARG or BRA).

You don’t need to take your whole power supply or your Apple device, just the wall plug adapter.
