Meet your SCC Student Representatives

Emma Wellham
SCC Chair & UNE Council Student Representative
My name is Emma Wellham and I am the Chair of the SCC and the Student Representative on the UNE Council.
I am in my second year of studying a Bachelor of Medical Science, Doctor of Medicine on campus at UNE, so now call Armidale home. Over the last 2 years I’ve been an Academic Mentor and Communities and Charities representative on the JCR at Mary White College.
Due to COVID and the move to online learning I’ve spent the last few months between Armidale and my home town, Newcastle.
I’m looking forward to working with the SCC to provide a unified voice to represent our diverse student body, both on campus and online, with the aim of making every student of UNE feel supported throughout their journey.

Jade McAnulty
Online Student Representative

Caitlyn Allen
Online Student Representative
My name is Caity and I am currently lucky enough to be a student representative for the online cohort! I am currently undertaking a double degree in criminology/Laws and have completed the majority of my studies online which has provided me with the unique experience to travel AND study concurrently. I have a massive passion for travel and am also a bit of an adrenaline junkie, you can usually find me jumping out of planes or off perfectly fine bridges!
As a result of this opportunity, it has given me great insight regarding my large array of interaction with UNE and now I am finally able to give back! I am passionate about making the UNE online experience first class, especially now that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed the need for efficient, flexible and accessible education.
Please reach out if you have any questions or suggestions or just need someone to listen, I am all ears!!!

Zoe Elleyn
Online Student Representative
My name is Zoe Elleyn and I’m studying a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Social Science online. I live in Melbourne with my seven rescue animals and carer. I was born with a genetic condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. In life I come across many areas in society that I cannot access or only access with difficulty. This has created a determination in me to improve the quality of lives of disabled people. I’m particularly passionate about education accessibility as education is so important to quality of life.
In my role on the SCC I hope to bring my unique life experiences in disability to help create better accessibility for those studying online. I believe in continuing to find ways to make education accessible to as many people as possible. I am excited and honoured to get to use my experiences to help shape and improve UNE

Cordel Murphy
Online Student Representative

Phoebe Kaye
Online Student Representative
My name is Phoebe Kaye and I am an online representative in the Student Consultative Council. I am studying a Bachelor of Education (K-6) and currently completing my second year of study. I live in Broken Hill, which is in Far West New South Wales. I have a background in education with my mother being a teacher and completing a year as a governess on a sheep and goat station as well as working in after school care services.
The reason I wanted to join the SCC is because I felt as though students studying remotely like myself did not have much of a voice at the University. There are 20+ UNE students that I am aware of in the Broken Hill region and I wanted to give them a voice and see that their feedback and concerns were heard by the UNE community. I am looking forward to working as a team to see UNE improve for all its students and staff.

Colin Tilini
General Representative – Undergraduate
My election as a SCC representative aligns with my belief that education (and all the aspects that go with it) should be equally accessible to everyone regardless of their circumstances. For personal development, I take the opportunity in assisting people with their issues as a formative basis to constructing rationale and practical solutions. As a law student, I firmly believe that through listening and understanding different perspectives is fundamental to the continuous development personal objectivity and neutrality.
Arguably, my most important goal is within the role is to build meaningful relationships with others. I, as many others, understand the professional, social and personal benefits constructive relationships have in both the quality and quantity of issues people are willing to reveal. I look forward to assisting wherever my help is best suited.

Abbey Matson
General Representative – Undergraduate
I am an online student who juggles part-time study, life and full-time work commitments. As an undergraduate student representative on the SCC I aim to act as a conduit between students and UNE staff, bringing attention to any issues/suggestions/feedback raised to me. I want to make sure that your voice is heard and accounted for in decisions, so that these decisions improve upon the UNE community for the benefit of us all.

Elizabeth Argue

Ruby Canning
Town Representative
I am passionate about the student experience as I have studied both online and on campus. I currently study online from our families beef property near Hamilton in Victoria. With Covid 19 having such an impact on all of us, I believe it is important to hear the voices of our students and how we can better their experiences. I am highly involved in agriculture and I also own a small photography business. Prior to studying a Bachelor of Business at UNE, I began my studies at Lincoln University in New Zealand. After my degree, I plan on pursuing post graduate studies in 2021. I am an approachable and bubbly individual and I look forward to meeting and working with many students & staff at UNE.
