Overview

Essential skills required to administer first aid to a victim of injury or illness until the arrival of professional medical help

This course is approved by WorkCover NSW. This course in mandatory for all UNE staff members who perform the role of First Aid Officer or First Aider.

Program Focus

DRABC procedure, First Aid Principles, Responding to emergencies, Assessment for unconsciousness, Moving a casualty, Expired Air resuscitation,

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Treatment of illness, Cardiac emergencies, Bleeding and wounds, Dressings and bandages, Exposure to heat and cold,

Burns and scalds, Poisoning, Reporting of accidents, Spinal injuries, Bites and Stings.

 

Requirements for Attendance and Certification

  1. First Aid Course Packs need to be collected from the OD office located within HR Services, top floor, TC Lamble Building.  
  2. Questions 1 to 20 must be completed in the Assessment Workbook prior to the workshop.
  3. Every course participant must obtain a USI number prior to attending the course by visitingwww.usi.gov.auand clicking on the box “CREATE A USI” then follow the prompts.
  4. What to bring on the day:  Your First Aid Pack with completed questions, USI and enrolment form.
  5. Catering: Lunch is not provided however there is a fridge and microwave in the room for your use. Basic tea/coffee/biscuits are supplied for morning/afternoon tea, for anything else please bring this with you.
