This August UNE will embark on a priority project to connect research and researchers. We are asking researchers, including adjuncts, who have not yet done so to sign up to ORCID, or Open Research and Contributor ID.

An ORCID ID is a unique digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher and protects the integrity of your authorship. ORCID is controlled and owned by you and connects the ID with your professional profile, including publications, affiliations, grants and peer reviews.

Staff who already have an ORCID are asked to make sure it is integrated with RUNE (Research UNE) to ensure publications can be harvested from ORCID and imported into RUNE.

It is quick and easy to sign up for ORCID – the whole process can be completed in RUNE as illustrated in this ‘how-to’ video developed by the team from Dixson Library and UNE Digital Services.

Dixson Library has also secured the services of a dedicated staff member to support researchers in obtaining an ORCID by the end of August.

Signing up for ORCID and integrating RUNE offer significant benefits for researchers in addition to supporting organisational processes such as Excellence in Research Australia application and academic promotions.

Questions and requests for support can be directed to rune@une.edu.au.
