Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, the Hon Barnaby Joyce hosted a visit of the German Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bundesminister Christian Schmidt, at the UNE SMART Farm on Friday 1st of April. The Minister heard about the latest research undertaken in animal health and precision livestock management, new pasture management tools, wild dog detection systems, smart trees, drones and sensor networks. During his luncheon speech at the SMART Farm Innovation Centre, Bundesminister Schmidt acknowledged SMART Farming as an important, and obvious area of collaboration between our two countries and was keen to foster further developments in this space.
