UNE-PARG staff and postgraduate students recently demonstrated the latest PA technologies to a large group of talented, high school science students. The cold and blustery New England day did not dampen the enthusiasm of the year 11 high school
students who devoted their school holiday break to learning more about the role of science and technology in agriculture. As part of the 2-day Primary Industry Centre for Science Education activity, a combination of lecture and hands-on measurements with plant canopy sensors, dGPS and EM38 gave the students exposure what agriculture holds for farmers of the future.

A survey of attendees revealed 18 out of the 23 78% of the students now have UNE as their prefered university for tertiary studies in science or agriculture and each student rated their experience on the day as 8 or greater out of 10. It seemed the cool windy weather didn’t dampen too many sprits!!
