UNE appoints new Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor

Professor Todd Walker has been appointed as Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of New England (UNE).

Professor Walker is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) at Federation University Australia. He previously held senior leadership roles at Charles Sturt University and the University of Ballarat.

“The University is delighted to be able appoint a Provost with Professor Walker’s broad and relevant experience in regional universities,” said UNE Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Heiko Daniel.

“Professor Walker brings a full suite of skills to the role. He has extensive experience in research and teaching, which are the foundation of any university, and a distinguished record in leadership in regional universities that has given him national recognition in academic governance and international education.”

Professor Walker’s academic discipline is biomedical science. As a clinical cytologist, he established strong research, teaching and consultancy credentials.

“I am delighted to be joining UNE – Australia’s leading online higher education provider – at a time of great opportunity and development,” Professor Walker said.

“I look forward to working with new colleagues to ensure we deliver an outstanding student experience with strong academic outcomes.”

Professor Walker will join UNE later in 2017.
