New England Primary Care
Research Network

A practice-based research network
in the New England and North West region of NSW

Origins of the Network

The New England Primary Care Research Network (NEPCRN) is a practice-based research network in the New England and North West region of NSW. It has been established to improve patient health outcomes through primary care-based research in general practices in this region. It will build the capacity of community based clinicians to develop, undertake and implement research. The NEPCRN has been funded by NSW Regional Health Partners in collaboration with the University of New England and University of Newcastle.
The network was initiated in 2021 with support from the Australian Government’s Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) as part of the Rapid Applied Research Translation program.

In 2025, we changed our name from New England General Practice Research Network to New England Primary Care Research Network to reflect more accurately the broader scope of health professionals we support. We also joined the NSW-ACT Practice-based Research Alliance (NAPRA), and will collaborate with colleagues across the state and territory to conduct primary care research that has both urban and rural impact.
