What’s on in May

What’s on in May? Lots!
May is a very exciting month at UNE with the Autumn Graduation Ceremonies and the UNE Open Day. UNE Graduation Ceremonies are held outdoors on the southern lawns of Booloominbah Historic House. You can find photographs of some of our beautiful graduation ceremonies here.

The annual UNE Open Day is held on Friday 10th May. UNE Open Day gives prospective students the chance to explore UNE and find out everything they need to know about studying at university. There are information sessions, individual course advice, tours of the academic campus and colleges, live demonstrations, free food and activities. Be sure to pop by the Library stall and say hi or come into the Library for a tour. More information here.

May is a great time to take part in one of our many Library workshops. Would you like to know how to find subject-specific information, how to get thee most out of EndNote or learn how to make the best choices for your academic publishing? We’re running workshops on all of these topics and more. Keep up to date via the Library Workshops website.

What do Library Administration staff do?

Obviously we do a lot of administrative working – organising meetings, taking minutes, filling out forms – but there are a lot of not so obvious tasks that we also take care of, like:

  • Supporting a number of Library projects such as the Reading List projects
  • Organising building maintenance
  • Refurbishing and repurposing of spaces, such as the new student kitchen
  • Working with the Associate Director, University Collections (framing and hanging art is one of our favourite jobs).

We also work closely with the Oorala Aboriginal Centre and are excited to be involved with the Oorala Youth Leadership Camps
