For some people, February 14th is a time to spend with your friends and loved-ones. You may exchange some flowers or box of chocolates or even a card! In library-land, it is an opportunity to reflect and celebrate on the impact libraries have in the community and the enduring love we have for libraries.
Librarians at Dixson celebrated Library Lover’s Day by hosting a morning tea for all professional and academic staff. We held it in “The Hub @ Dixson”, a collaborative space for students to work on their assignments in groups or alone. The morning tea was a success, with lots of delicious treats for everyone to enjoy and lots of thrilling discussion about the past, present, and future of libraries.
The theme for 2019 is “Library Love Stories”. There is so much to love about the library, it is hard to pick just one story to tell!
On Facebook , we did a week-long series of “things you can find on a librarian’s desk” leading up to Library Lover’s Day. We wanted to highlight the personalities that lie behind-the-scenes of a profession that is often mistaken for dealing only in books and shushes.
You can get to know your subject librarian by booking an appointment online. We do consultations via phone, video call, or in-person!
