UNE Library services for Alumni

Are you a graduate of UNE?

Just because you are no longer attending lectures, completing assignments, and chatting with friends about how horrible group work is doesn’t mean you are cut-off from using many resources UNE Library offers. UNE Library offers a range of services and facilities which are accessible for our alumni and the wider community.

As a recent or an older alumni, you can register to be a community borrower. It is easy and you will be able to borrow books from the collection and book study spaces for your use when visiting campus.

You are also able to attend many on-campus events run by the UNE Library. Many sessions on a variety of topics are run throughout the year in the Dixson Library or you may attend online via Zoom video conferencing. Keep an eye on this blog for the class schedule and contact us to let us know if you will be interested. Many recordings are also available on UNE Library’s Subject Guides.

There are also a number of open access resources and databases you can use to access information and research. We have collected a list for you (download Word document: UNELibrary_OpenResources_2019-twl41m).

And whilst you’re in the area you should definitely call into the Archives and Heritage Centre! The team there can take you through their extensive collection of historical material about the New England region and often have special exhibitions on display.

Dixson Library often hosts exhibitions and displays which have been specially curated from the UNE Collections that are open for anyone to enjoy while visiting the Library during our opening hours.

The Library team are always happy to help UNE Alumni and if you have further enquiries just ask at the front desk or contact us directly at (02 6773 2458). You can also follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook to find out more about what is happening at the Library.

Hi Can you tell what’s available for alumni who don’t live near the campus? What can I access on-line? I really miss being able to use an academic library.
    Thanks for the information, Karen

      Hi Karen,
Great question. You have access to a large number of open access resources and databases that you can use to access information and research. Please see the downloadable Word document in the post above.

When you next visit Armidale, please drop into the Library and join as a Community Borrower (https://www.une.edu.au/library/services/community-borrowers) where you will then be able to borrow books from the collection. Be sure to ask for a free Reply Paid sticker to use when you need to return your Library books.

      Thanks,
      -Eleanor

Will I be able to use my Username and Password which I used as a student or would I have to get a new one from IT?

      Hi Pamela,

Great news! You do not need a username and password to access the open access resources and databases. The Word document in the above post provides a list of open access resources.

Please feel free to drop into Dixson Library and join as a Community Borrower where you will then be able to borrow books from the collection. Be sure to ask for a free Reply Paid sticker to use when you need to return your Library books.

You may also want to join a State Library which will allow you to access some online subscription databases too.

      Thanks,
      -Eleanor
