The book launch of the exciting new book, ‘Legal Issues in Information Technology’ is taking place this Thursday 21st April.
Never before has information technology collided more with our legal system. Most kids have experienced a period of home schooling where they rely on devices to engage with their teachers and classmates. Scanning QR codes and proving vaccination status, whilst using our smart phones, has become the norm. All of these ‘now-normal’ activities have substantial legal implications!!
When asked about the significance of the book, Professor Mark Perry (author and editor) noted:
‘Whether innovator or start up, the legal frameworks around the deployment of business ideas is changing rapidly. Legal systems are normally, and quite rightly, measured in their response to challenges, and slow to change. It is difficult for citizens to cope with a legal system that changes regulation and control of civil society overnight – as evidenced by the rapid succession of public health orders that often have left enforcement scratching their heads. On the other hand, rapidly changing deployment of technologies and their intrusion into daily living has come at such a pace that timely policy and legal responses are required. Every chapter should be reading for founders, researchers, school and university students, mentors, experts, investors, government and business partners so they can get insight into the legal externalities to their proposed activities.’
