In recent months, humanitarian crises have been occurring in Europe. These events have placed accepted international human rights under threat. As a result, the Council of Australian Law Deans (CALD) has put together a statement responding to the devastating events currently happening in Ukraine. The statement is titled: Responding to Humanitarian Crises: Upholding the Rule of Law and Respect for Human Rights.  

 #UNELaw’s Head of School, Professor Michael Adams, was one of the signatories to the CALD Executive Committee Statement. UNE Law School and 39 other law schools in Australia have all signed the Media Release for the Rule of Law to be applied to Russia regarding the invasion of Ukraine. Professor Adams notes ‘it is important to stand together for the Rule of Law and to express that sovereign states should not be invaded by other state players. All Australian law schools stand with Ukrainian law schools in support.’
