14 day China Study Program in Trimester 3 2018

Expression of Interest
The UNE School of Law will offer students an exciting opportunity to participate in a 14 day China Study Program in Trimester 3 2018. Law students are invited to submit an expression of interest, by the date shown below. The program provides students with a fabulous opportunity to learn the Chinese legal system, to build an international network, and to explore China’s rich history and culture.
The program introduces students to the Chinese legal system (both mainland and Hong Kong). In addition to classroom lectures and discussions, student’s learning experiences will be enriched through a series of field trips, and professional visits including:
- Prominent law firms in Beijing and Hong Kong
- Top Chinese law schools in Beijing, Shanghai, and Wuhan
- Australian Embassy and trade offices in China
The program also includes memorable cultural activities. Students will visit UNESCO world heritage sites such as the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City (Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties) in Beijing. Students will also have the opportunity to explore major cultural attractions in Shanghai and Hong Kong, such as Yu Garden, local wet market and community centre in Shanghai, and Victoria Harbour, in Hong Kong.
Dates: 20 October 2018 – 2 November 2018
Approximate Cost: AU $5,485 per person (sharing in a twin room), including international airfares (ex-Sydney), travel in country, most meals and all activities.
Travel Destinations: Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, and Hong Kong
Field trips and cultural activities are subject to change and confirmation.
Any interested law student is invited to submit an Expression of Interest by 16 April 2018.
Eligibility
Students in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs (on-campus and online) are eligible. Undergraduate students enrol in OSSE300, and must have completed 48 credit points and receive permission from the Head of School.
Interested students, who have not completed 48 credit points, may submit an expression of interest, and the Head of School will assess your eligibility on a case by case basis. Postgraduate students enrol in OSSE500, and require permission of the Head of School. This is an OSSE300/500 program and assessment will be undertaken during and post program for unit credit.
Students will be granted 6 credit points on successful completion of the unit as a listed unit towards the Bachelor of Laws or the Master of Laws. This applies to students admitted prior to 2019.
Undergraduate students are able to apply for OS-Help Assistance (provided by the Australian Government) for the cost of the tour. Conditions apply. For students who may be working and /or studying, and in areas of relevance to the visit and study content, this program may offer taxation benefits. However, please refer to your financial advisor.
