Ray completed a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) as an online student, which he says has allowed him the flexibility to juggle work while studying full-time. While studying online, Ray had made some great friendships that he says were very supportive and provided him with that extra bit of encouragement when it came time to submit assignments and study for exams!
Ray’s favourite law unit was Torts Law with Julia Day and Professor Mark Lunney. He says the unit provided him with a foundational base for legal writing with legal reasoning, which motivated him to complete his Honours in Law. Ray advises current and future law students to take advantage of the knowledge their lecturers and other students have on a particular subject or area of law. In addition, Ray says that engaging in discussion forums and tutorials is an excellent way to receive non-formative feedback.
Ray would like to acknowledge the lecturers in the Law School and his Honours supervisor Professor Mark Lunney. Ray would also like to acknowledge the Law admin staff, who he says do ‘an amazing job with keeping the Law School running and ensuring that students are appropriately supported from approving extensions to finalising unit results’.
Ray says his journey at UNE and studying Law has been challenging yet rewarding and that he might be back in a few years to undertake a PhD in Law!
