Yesterday, Sunday 4 July, marked the beginning of NAIDOC week 2021. NAIDOC is National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee.
NAIDOC week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme is: Heal Country, heal our nation. Heal Country calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.
Given recent COVID-19 concerns and safety measures in place in NSW, UNE’s Oorala NAIDOC planning group has made the decision to postpone our NAIDOC Flag Raising ceremony which was planned for Monday 5th July. A new ceremony date will be announced.
