Scott has been working at Coleman Greig Lawyers as a paralegal since 2002. Before this he worked at another law firm in the city of Sydney for several years. Whilst there he did litigation and debt recovery work. Even though Scott first started working in the litigation division at Coleman Greig he now works in commercial advice where he has acquired broad experience in a large variety of corporate and commercial transactions with particular focus on franchising.

Scott enjoys his job as he likes working on a variety of matters on a day-to-day basis. He also appreciates the fact he doesn’t have to commute to the city for work. In addition Scott identifies Coleman Greig Lawyers is a terrific place to work as they encourage a good work life balance coupled with extensive support systems. Scott also appreciates the fact Coleman Greig Lawyers have up to date systems and resources which makes his job significantly easier and more effective.

Scott has always been interested in law. Until now though Scott never felt like it was the right time to undertake study. This year Scott enrolled in a 4 year bachelor of law degree. Scott chose UNE because it allows him to continue working full time whilst studying at his own pace. He also likes the fact he does not have to rush to lectures straight after work.

When Scott finishes his law degree he wants to continue working in commercial law as a practising solicitor. Scott noted the key difference between his current paralegal position and a qualified solicitor is whilst qualified solicitors provide advice and direct the matters to their clients, paralegals are responsible for the day to day management of matters. Essentially they are the intermediary between the legal secretary and the practising lawyer.

Scott enjoys spending time at home in the new house he recently built. This is hardly surprising given the house also boasts a swimming pool! He also likes watching horror movies and travelling.
