There are only a few weeks left before students can gain access to Reading List on Monday 14 October 2024, a week prior to the start of the teaching period.
In line with the UNE Online Learning Resources Policy, all learning resources provided by the Library must be stored in Reading List. Reading List is available in every myLearn unit, and can include links to online subscription articles, portions of print material, scanned (newspapers, textbooks), databases, streamed videos and links to websites.
Managing your Reading List
You can manage your unit’s Reading List using the Library’s help guide, or ask the Library’s Reading List team for help. Common tasks that need to be actioned in preparation for a new teaching period include:
- Rolling over an existing Reading List (e.g. used for the same unit, but from a previous teaching period) or
- Creating a new Reading List
- Adding new readings to a Reading List
Reminder: If you are rolling over, or creating a new Reading List for Trimester 3, please be aware of the following:
- Please review the rolled over readings and check for currency, relevancy, and accessibility as usual. If you need to create new links to resources for your Reading List, please use this tool from the UNE website: https://www.une.edu.au/library/teaching-staff/durable-linking-with-dois
- You will need to Publish the list once it is complete (otherwise the list won’t be accessible to students)
- Make sure you select the correct ‘predefined’ teaching period (see below), or other predefined teaching period as appropriate – e.g. in the case of yearlong units.
Benefits of using Reading List
- Reading List can be organized into groups, allowing for weekly content to be kept together.
- You can gauge engagement in the unit by viewing statistics about how many students have accessed each reading.
- The Library can ensure compliance with all electronic subscription licence agreements, and the Educational Statutory Licence
- The Library can maintain stable links:
- Important with platform and authentication changes
- Ensures students can always access material off-campus.
- Consistent experience for students across units
- Students can navigate and access the resources according to their learning needs at the time that they need them.
- Accessibility standards are upheld.
- Copyright warning notices are automatically applied to works communicated under the Educational Statutory Licence.
