Cotton Biosecurity

Cotton biosecurity is rarely a laughing matter, but in 2017 CottonInfo with support from the CRDC and the Cotton Hub at UNE introduced the Lone Stranger and Pronto to the CottonInfo YouTube channel in a series of short videos that highlighted the importance of good farm hygiene. With the constant threat of the spread of diseases, pests and herbicide tolerant weeds the importance of the Come clean go clean strategy is as important now as ever.

The videos also introduced the audiences to Farmcleanse and Washdown, the trusted steads that transported out intrepid duo during their adventures. Sadly Farmcleanse was removed from the market in 2017  leaving a void in the cotton industries continued struggle in keeping farms clean and obviously in the Lone Stranger’s life. So what are the alternatives?

Alternatives to Farmcleanse

There are several disinfectants available that are been proven to assist in the cleaning of farm machinery and have fungicidal activity, however, many of these are corrosive. Alternatives to Farmcleanse are available and some have been recommended in the current cotton industry guidance on Come clean Go clean

It’s because of questions about what to do now that Farmcleanse is gone that the Lone Stranger and Pronto are making a return to your screens. Lone Stranger 4 – Cleaning up will be without doubt the most anticipated farm hygiene CottonInfo You Tube release of Autumn 2018, but because you’ll have to wait until March, here’s the teaser trailer.
