Over the last two days 94 PhD and research MSc candidates from the schools of Science and Technology (S&T) and Environmental and Rural Science (ERS) have been presenting their work as 3 Minute Thesis. The presentations were all excellent and it was great to hear the breadth of work being conducted across the schools. Cotton was well represented in the presentations and amongst the winners. ERS student Heidi Kolkert’s work on bats on cotton farms took out the award for best slide in ERS and Samieh Eskandari’s work on the relationship between cotton and mycorrhizae in sodic soils won her third place over all. Meanwhile Katherine Polain’s work on phosphorus turnover under cotton won best presentation in S&T. Congratulation to all and I am already looking forward to next year.
