Yesterday Dr Yui Osanai joined the Cotton Hub at UNE to take up the postdoctoral researcher position on the CRDC funded project Soil System Research – physical, chemical and biological processes for plant growth and nutrient cycling down the whole soil profile.

Yui has come to us form WSU and will already be known to many in the cotton industry from the work she did there. The UNE group are glad to have Yui on board and are looking forward to her input into the project. Dr Osanai’s appointment brings the team back up to strength, but we’ve still to fill a PhD position associated with the project, so if you or someone you know might be interested in joining this group then please get in touch. In the meantime, we’re so excited about Yui’s arrival that we’ve started discussing a sampling trip to Narrabri before the Cotton Conference to grab some more cores and to allow Yui to meet Gunna, who manages the field trial that is the foundation for our experiments.
