Next Drop-in Help Session

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The next drop-in help session is tomorrow, Wednesday ( 24 September ) from 10-12 in ITD Computer Lab 1.

Remember, this is a time when you can drop in to ask questions or get help.
You can also consider turning up during this time if you just want to try
something new and want to have help on hand in case you need it. This could
be the ideal way to get away from the phones and concentrate on the web for
an hour or so.

Remember, timing and duration may change depending on the ongoing demand.

(These sessions are not meant to take the place of the basic training
sessions, so if you or someone in your area need training, please let me
know and I will pencil you in for the next round of training.)

Web Publishers Facilitation Meeting

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

The next meeting of the Web Publishers Facilitation Meeting will be held in the ITD Conference Room, Thursday 18 September 2008, from 1100 to 1200.

It is important that each school is represented at this meeting as there will be an update on the Student Relationship Management (SRM) project (aka AskUNE). This is especially important, as we were to have this update at last month’s meeting, but it was cancelled due to lack of attendance. If you are a member of this group, and can’t attend please send someone in your place. The Meeting will be chaired by Ross Bennetts.

These meetings are a time when we can update the schools through their representatives at the meetings, on issues to do with the web, web publishing and the UNEweb Content Management System; give answers to questions the web team has been asked in the previous month as well as solutions to problems UNEweb publishers have encountered; and for the schools, through their representatives, to relay to the web team issues they face in the schools and make requests for improvements to make web publishing more efficient and effective. Lastly, and very importantly, it is also a time for the school’s representatives to network together, and share their problems, ideas and solutions.

It is also important that those who attend the meetings share information with their schools, particularly other web publishers. This group could make a difference, but we need the attendance of all the schools to make it work.

Just a reminder that unless you are otherwise notified, Web Publishers Facilitation Meetings will always be held on the third Thursday of every month from 1100 to 1200 in the ITD Conference Room.

Content Management System Training

Friday, September 5th, 2008

The two sessions for Tuesday and Thursday next week (9 and 11 September) are filled. I have requested 3 more sessions in the next 3 weeks, and will post here when the room bookings have been confirmed, and after those on the waiting list have had a chance to respond.

Please email cmsadmin@une.edu.au if you would like to be added to the waiting list. People on the list will be notified of any training sessions before they are advertised to the general UNE community.

Content Management System Training

Friday, September 5th, 2008

As most of the UNE website is now in the UNE Content Management System (CMS) and remaining sections of our web are being migrated into the Content Management System, it is essential that any staff member who will be expected to create and/or maintain pages on the UNE Web be trained in the use of the UNE CMS. Training takes place in one two hour session and is free of charge. There is a limit of 10 participants for each session.
If you have any questions, please contact me.

There are two CMS training sessions being offered in next week:

Tuesday, 9 September 2008 – 1000 to 1200
Thursday, 11 September 2008 – 1400 to 1600

Each will be held in the ITD Training Room on the second floor of the ITD Building.

If there is anyone in your area who needs or wants training, please ask them to email cmsadmin@une.edu.au. I will need at least one working day’s notice to have them added to the system.

I will need to know:
1. their UNE username (this is *not* their email alias, if they have one)
2. the area(s) of the web that they look after, and
3. which session they can attend.
