Ironically, a former risk and audit employee, responsible for detecting internal risks in systems, who recently left the company taking with her thousands of pages of highly sensitive and confidential documents has allegedly lost the USB thumbstick she copied all the documents onto. The company only learned of this once the work laptop was returned 3 weeks later.

This illustrates the importance of corporate data protection and proper document and records management in public and private corporations, particularly by utilising the right software systems, security matrix and proper protocols.
