underground water tanks
Far from the massive above ground tanks that we mainly see in rural and regional areas. a diffrent breed of water tanks, underground water tanks are becomming more and more popular in city areas. These tanks are now an everday occurence and are getting built under nearly every new house that is being built in the city. The underground water tank is more than just what we see on some properties where someone has just dug a hole and put a normal tank with the roof sticking out. These tanks are acually being put under driveways and made traficable for people as well as vehcels . Some are capable of sustaining the pressure of 15 tonnes. the 2 main materials used in the manufactur of these tanks are polyethelene and concrete. the concrete version has been around a lot longer and is still the most popular choice of underground water storage. however the poly version is the one that has been made to hold the 15 tonne. The concrete versionof the humble water tank will cost builders around 14000 dollars for 10,000 litres to be installed and the poly for the same literage will cost about 10,000 dollars. However the poly version is rated for larger wieght bearing ability. when compared to an above ground option the cost is around 30% of the underground counterparts. The use of the underground water tanks is mainly limited to city use due to these costs, people who take this option are valuing what limited land they have available and rightly so if you look at the cost of land per square meter in some city areas.
