To celebrate Blue Stockings Week 2013 The University of New England Women’s Society (UNEWS) have organised a debate on the topic: “The problem with feminists is that they can’t take a joke”.
There will be a free barbeque, a bake sale, and live music from the talented Ash Baker to follow. The ’Stro bar will also be open. Please join us at The ’Stro from 12 noon today, Wednesday 1st May.
Blue Stockings Week is a celebration of women’s involvement in higher education and intellectual life. We’ve come a long way from the days when the first women to attend lectures were remonstrated by their colleagues and condemned by wider society for their “un-womanly” behaviour. Come along and celebrate with us! If you would like to know more about UNEWS please email us at managementunews@gmail.com Looking forward to seeing you there, Amelia Roberts.

The Students as Staff Program is designed for students to gain casual or part-time work around campus. This will involve training, mentoring and placing local students into paid employment opportunities across the campus. The program is open to all students living locally and we are keen to be able to create a skilled pool of casual employees who can gain employment and enhance their graduate attributes through this initiative.
Why should you apply?:
- The Students As Staff Program is an opportunity for local students to gain valuable skills and abilities for future endeavours.
- Students who are successful will gain work opportunities around UNE campus including areas of administration, customer service, information technology and more.
- Students are able to use these experiences for further applications upon graduation and beyond.
